Greens outline Lyne preferences
Posted
The Greens have announced they will be allocating preferences in the New South Wales mid-north coast seat of Lyne at next month's election.
The party's candidate, Ian Oxenford, says first preferences will go to the sitting independent MP Robert Oakeshott, followed by the Labor candidate Dr Frederick Lips.
Mr Oxenford says Mr Oakeshott supports strong action on climate change, yet it seems the major parties have no intention of introducing effective policy in that area.
"We find particularly the climate change policies of the two old major parties of some concern, we find very little difference between the two to be quite frank, but Labor marginally ahead, so we decided to put Labor number three," he said.
"We had a meeting of the group last Saturday and unanimously decided that obviously Oxenford Greens would be one and Oakeshott independent two and Lips for Labor would be three, and we'll leave it to the voters to decide on the remaining boxes.
"Rob Oakeshott, we think quite a lot of his policies have been in parallel with the Greens."
