Griff follows the mighty Severn from its source in the Welsh Hills to the estuary 320 km later. He also follows its neighbour, the Wye, which starts and finishes nearby.
He finds that rivers have furnished and carried the lifeblood of the nation for tens of thousands of years, from providing drinking water to carrying iron ore that drove the industrial revolution.
On his journey, he bog snorkels, meets Druids, sleeps in a cave and builds a coracle, a small round boat ideal for shallow water.
